The pay of Chief Executives of state companies and semi-state bodies is under the spotlight again as the Cabinet prepares to review the salaries of the bosses who – for the most part – refuse to take pay cuts.
Newstalk has monitored the wage of those at the top of the pile and despite reported pay cuts their total salary packages continue to reach colossal amounts.
Some curiosities include the head of the ESB taking a voluntary pay cut but still bringing home an extra €200,000
Elsewhere the boss of the Dublin Airport Authority was awarded a €50,000 bonus despite the committee charged with reviewing his performance and awarding a bonus never meeting.
Meanwhile the head of the HSE had €93,000 penalty applied to his pay last year while the Director General of RTE has his bonuses paid a year late thus significantly bumping up the amount he earns in a given year.
