Over 1.5 million people died between July and November 1916 in the Battle of the Somme, the bloodiest campaign of both the First World War and all subsequent wars. This Sunday, Patrick and a team of military historians and analysts examine the tragic story of the Somme, drawing on first-hand accounts and questioning what, if any, military benefits the battle brought to the course of the war.
