Australians are celebrating their National Day today.

It comes at a time when lots of Irish people are looking to swap economic troubles here for a new life down under.

But there’s a warning that if you’re joining the exodus, planning is key.

Liz O’Hagan is from Australian Visa Specialists – she says you need to spot the right opportunity in the right location.

“The key is there are jobs in Australia, the economy is getting stronger” she said.

“We’re close to Asia – so the mining community – so we’re obviously doing very well from resources”.

“The key is if you’re going to go to Australia, yes there are opportunities – but you need to know where in Australia the opportunities are that are going to match your skill set to ensure a successful journey” she added.
