Over 7 million Marlboro cigarettes have been seized at Dublin Port today.

They arrived in on a container from Spain.

Revenue officers based at Dublin Port made the discovery earlier as a result of risk profiling.

7.2 million Marlboro cigarettes were found in a 40 foot container which had arrived from Spain via Rotterdam, hidden in a shipment described as “office furniture”.

They have a street value of around €3.1 million and with a potential loss to the exchequer of €2.4 million.

A full investigation has been launched.
