Collins conspiring to murder appeal continues

Mar 12th, 2010, 10:16 am

Sharon Collins’s appeal against her convictions for soliciting a man to murder her partner and his two sons continues today

The 46 year old from Kildysart in Ennis, Co Clare was jailed for 6 years for the plot against wealthy businessman PJ Howard and his sons Robert and Niall in September 2006.

The prosecution has accepted that Sharon Collins’s convictions for conspiring to murder PJ, Robert and Niall Howard cannot stand.

That’s because her co-accused, Las Vegas poker dealer Essam Eid, was cleared of the plot – and it takes at least two to conspire.

The 2008 trial heard she used the e-mail alias ‘lyingeyes’ to contact Eid via the website hitmanforhire, offering €90,000 for the contract killings.

She’s still fighting to overturn her 3 convictions for soliciting the Egyptian.

He was jailed for 6 years for trying to extort money from Robert Howard to call off the hits.

His appeal against the severity of his sentence is also due to be heard today.
