Senator Ivor Callely will come under further scrutiny this afternoon when a Seanad Committee meets to decide how to proceed with the investigation into his expense claims.
3 other Senators are also under examination.
They are Larry Butler, Ann Ormonde and Rónán Mullen.
All 4 were asked to provide detailed information by today.
It is understood Senator Callely will ask for another 2 weeks to respond.
Political Editor with the Irish Independent Fionnan Sheehan says the Committee is looking at a number of issues when it comes to Senator Callely.
“They’ve already dealt with him claiming travel expenses from his holiday home in Cork rather than his normal residence and political base in Dublin” he said.
“They’re now looking at mobile phone receipts which he provided to the Oireachtas in recent years which appear to have come from a company which went out of business several years earlier”.
“Mr. Callely has already refunded this money – they’re waiting for receive his explanation” he added.
