The Tánaiste says it is a matter for the Green Party who they have at the Cabinet table.
There’s speculation that as part of the upcoming Cabinet re-shuffle, John Gormley’s ministerial position could be rotated to Ciaran Cuffe.
Party chairman Dan Boyle added to speculation by commenting that rotation in politics brings ‘fresh thinking’ – while this morning he indicated the party expects a second Green junior minister position in the re-shuffle.
Speaking in Dublin this morning, Tánaiste Mary Coughlan said it’s a matter for the Green Party and the Taoiseach.
“The Green representatives will be promoted by their own leader” she said.
“It’s really a matter for the Greens as to who they have at cabinet”.
“I’ve worked with both members of the cabinet who represent the Green party very well over the last number of years and they’ve been absolutely superb”.
“It’s just a time when there’s lots of speculation until such time as the Taoiseach makes his final decision” she added.
