Cowen refuses to comment on re-shuffle speculation

Mar 1st, 2010, 5:08 pm

The Taoiseach’s refusing to comment on reports Martin Cullen may depart Cabinet in the planned reshuffle.

Speculation intensified again today when the Minister for Arts, Sport & Tourism pulled out of an event citing chronic back pain.

He’s been walking with the aid of a stick after suffering chronic pain in recent weeks.

It’s claimed he’ll inform the Taoiseach he does not want to be considered in a new Ministerial line-up on health grounds.

But Brian Cowen refused to be drawn on whether Mr Cullen had contacted him:

“I’m not engaging on any speculation in relation to these matters” he said.

“There’s a lot written in the media, but until decisions are taken there’s no point in discussing it” he added.
