Fianna Fail TD talks of serious discontent within party

Mar 26th, 2010, 12:44 pm

A Fianna Fáil TD has hit out at the Taoiseach, calling him a source of great disappointment and predicting that the party won’t return to power in the next election.

Carlow-Kilkenny TD MJ Nolan was reacting to the cabinet reshuffle which prompted discontent among some Fianna Fail backbench TD’s.

Yesterday former Junior Minister, John McGuinness, called on Mr. Cowen to resign after accusing him of prioritising the party over the country.

Speaking to his local radio station KCLR today, MJ Nolan said the Taoiseachs leadership is flawed.

“I would rule nothing out at this stage – whatever is needed” he said.

“But if change is necessary to do what needs to be done for the country’s sake I’m going to be part of that”.

“There is serious discontent within the Fianna Fail parliamentary party and I would say that that would be at every level of the party”.

“I don’t expect that Fianna Fail at the end of this term in government will be back – in fact I know they won’t be back” he added.
