The Environment Minister says an ESRI report backing the controversial Poolbeg incinerator in Dublin, should have a health warning attached.
The Economic and Social Research Institute report says there is no coherent reason to move away from a policy of building incinerators such as the controversial facility at Poolbeg in Dublin.
However Minsiter John Gormley, who vehemently opposes the incinerator which is in his constituency, told Lunchtime here on Newstalk the report is disturbing and far from independent.
“While I have respect for the ESRI, I feel that they’ve been used in this instance” he said.
“This is not an independent…report by the ESRI – it has been commissioned by Dublin City Council and they have been used by Dublin City Council and this other company as part of a PR strategy because they were out briefing this morning”.
“It’s no coincidence that this report was released today” he added.
