The Deputy Leader of the Green Party says they need time to reflect on the emotional events of yesterday and the resignation of Junior Minister Trevor Sargent.
The opposition’s taking aim at the reported rift between Fianna Fail and the Greens after two ministerial resignations – one from each coalition party – in two weeks.
This morning, Mary White’s declined to say she did not believe Fianna Fail were behind the leaking of documents that led to Trevor Sargent’s decision, or to say she trusted Fianna Fail.
Deputy White says being in a coalition is never easy.
“I look on the coalition partnership as two railway tracks; we never meet or cross, our destination is 2012 to deliver policy – and that’s what we’re doing” she said.
“This is politics; it’s a very rough trade, it’s a very, very tough world to be in particularly for us as a small political party”.
“But that’s politics – we move on” she added.
