The pilot of the plane which crashed off the coast of Lebanon yesterday did not follow the control tower’s recommendation, according to the country’s Transport minister.

He reportedly performed “a very fast and strange turn before disappearing from the radar”. 

Witnesses said they saw the jet burst into flames before it plunged into the sea.
