The jury in the Eamonn Lillis murder trial has resumed deliberations after listening to an audio recording of the accused’s evidence.
The 52 year old TV ad producer denies killing his wife Celine Cawley with a brick at their Dublin home on Windgate Road Howth on December 15th 2008.
Eamonn Lillis held his hand to his face and looked down as a recording of his evidence played out in court as requested by the jury.
They heard that he planned to meet his lover Jean Tracey on the day of his wife Celine Cawley’s death, and of the violent row the married couple had that morning.
The jury said they wished to hear his testimony up until the point when he dialled 999.
A tape of that recording – where he lied to emergency services telling them his wife had been attacked by an intruder – has been made available to them.
The jury has once again retired to its room.
The 6 men and 6 women have the option of acquitting Mr Lillis, convicting him of murder or finally of manslaughter.
