Limerick and Dublin south city have been found to have the highest per capita murder rates in the country.

A new crime report from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) has also revealed that drugs, explosives and gun crime doubled over the four years.

Meanwhile, Cavan and Monaghan had more drunken drivers – 736 for every 100,000 people.

The lowest number of drunken drivers were in Dublin east – at 183 per 100,000 – while the State average was 405 per 100,000.
