Gardai have launched a murder investigation after a bread delivery man was shot dead in Limerick this morning.
The shooting happened at around 6am this morning at a petrol station on the Ennis Road on the North side of the city.
It’s thought the victim was approached by a lone gunman, who shot him before making his escape in a red Toyota Corolla car.
A major investigation is now underway into the death.
David Hurley from the Limerick leader is at the scene.
“I’m looking here at a group of staff members who are still coming to terms with what they witnessed this morning” he said.
“This man appears to have been delivering bread shortly after 6 o’clock – but he was shot in the shop itself”.
“His body remains at the scene, he was pronounced dead a short time later”.
“As you can imagine, the entire forecourt has been sealed off – it is absolutely shocking” he added.
