Limerick victim's father speaks out over killing

Feb 23rd, 2010, 3:43 pm

The father of a man shot dead in Limerick says he will never come to terms with his son’s murder.

Two men are being questioned over the fatal shooting of 35 year old Daniel Treacy as he delivered bread to a petrol station on the Ennis Road yesterday morning.

Gardai have recovered a burnt out car at Littor in Asdee in North Kerry – which they believe was the getaway car.

Philp Treacy says he will never get over his son’s killing.

“I was gone out…yesterday; my overall on me, I was gone out to collect my van down at the back of the house” he said.

“Phone rang – it was Daniel’s girlfriend to say he was shot – and I just went dumbfounded”.

“I’ll never cope with that, never”.

“You could ring me in 20 years time, and I could still be saying the same to you” he added.
