An investigation is underway after a man in his twenties was killed in a house fire in Cobh in Co Cork.

Officers believe that the man was overcome by smoke fumes in the blaze which broke out in an apartment in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The man’s body was only discovered last night but his death is not believed to be suspicious.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out at Cork University Hospital later today.
