A 36 year old man has been killed in a car crash in Mullingar.

The car he was travelling in left the road and hit a pole on the Ballynacarrigy Road in just after 1am this morning.

Two other occupants in the car have been taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar where one is said to be in a serious condition.

The road is currently closed and diversions are in place pending an examination by Gardai Forensic Collision Investigators.
