The Minister for Arts Sport and Tourism Martin Cullen has been hospitalised for treatment for a chronic back problem.

He has been seen walking with the aid of a stick in recent weeks.

He could not attend this morning’s Cabinet meeting, and is likely to remain in hospital for the rest of the week.

Minister Cullen’s health problems have fuelled speculation that he will step down from the Cabinet.
