Men jailed for making pipe bombs

Jan 29th, 2010, 5:15 pm

Two men have been jailed for nine years for having bomb-making equipment at an  apartment in Dublin.

23 year old Cormac Fitzpatrick of Cathedral Walk in Monaghan and Terry McConnell aged 26, with an address in Belfast were convicted in December of unlawfully possessing explosive materials at The Crescent, Park West Pointe in Clondalkin, in September 2008.

Their trial before the Special Criminal Court last year heard how enough explosive material, to construct four pipe bombs, was discovered when detectives raided the flat.
