The Transport Minister says the controversial new speed limit in Dublin City should be kept under review.
Noel Dempsey says, however, that the setting of the 30 kilometre an hour speed limit is ultimately up to the local authority.
The new lower limit is now being considered in Cork and Galway.
Minister Dempsey says it should be given time to see how it works.
“Let’s wait and see, let’s leave the predictions” he said.
“Let’s get the experience and on the basis of experience then make a decision whether it continues or whether it changes” he added.
