A number of people taking part in drugs trials at a clinical research facility in Cork have been taken to hospital.
The Health Service Executive (HSE) says 3 ambulances, 2 advanced paramedics and 2 rapid response vehicles all responded to the call from the Shandon Clinic just after 12pm.
3 people were brought to Cork University Hospital and are said to be in a stable condition.
The HSE is monitoring the situation at the clinic.
In a statement the clinic said a trial was undertaken with 12 healthy male volunteers involving a drug normally used for patients with cancer.
9 of the volunteers remain at the clinic.
The trial was not due to completed until Thursday but has now been terminated.
As a precaution the clinic added that the remaining volunteers will remain at the clinic under medical supervision.
The incident is being reported to the Irish Medicines Board and the Ethics Committee in accordance with legal requirement.
