Report shows driving test discrepancies

Feb 8th, 2010, 1:23 pm

A new report is raising concerns about the high variation in pass rates for driving tests – awarded by Road Safety Authority testers and contract testers.

In a bid to reduce the significant waiting time, the RSA hired additional testers on a contract basis – when it took over responsibility for testing in 2006.

The Comptroller and Auditor General has found the national average pass rate for RSA testers is 49% – compared to 62% for contract testers.

However, it also says the RSA has succeeded in reducing both waiting lists and waiting times.
