The Taoiseach has ordered the costs of Ministerial trips around the world for Saint Patrick’s Day to be curtailed.
Brian Cowen has instructed all Ministers not to travel first class or in limousines, unless there is a compelling reason to do so.
He’s heading to the White House – while 22 ministers and the Attorney General will also travel abroad.
The government insists they are on a marketing drive for tourism and job creation.
