Gardai in Dublin are questioning two men in connection with the seizure of over a million euro worth of heroin in Tallaght.

The men – who are 22 and 38 – were arrested last night when Gardai searched two houses in Kiclare Gardens.

The searches were carried out as part of Operation Creeper, which targets burglaries and serious crime.

The men are being detained under Section 2 Drug Trafficking Act and can be held for up to seven days.

Detective Inspector Pat Lorden says the drugs could be worth €1.2 million.

“Gardai in Tallaght working as part of Operation Creeper – this was a unit established to counteract burglary and other serious crime – along with the local drugs unit based in Tallaght, made a very significant seizure of heroin last night” he said.

“The street value of this heroin is €1.2 million” he added.
