Schools, hospitals and other public services are to be hit by a series of rolling work stoppages.
The public service committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) has decided to intensify its campaign against budget pay cuts.
However, it says different sectoral situations will be taken into account.
IMPACT’s Peter McLoone is warning that disruption to the public is inevitable in the coming days and weeks.
“The next phase of the industrial action would be in the form of a withdrawal of labour – that’s the form that the escalation is going to take” he said.
“Individual unions will be making announcements and serving notice of work stoppages in the coming days” he added.
