Hollywood-based Actress backs McGuinness for President

Award winning Irish actress Fionnula Flanagan, star of The Others and The Guard says she would like to see Martin McGuiness taking over the role of president of Ireland.

Speaking on The Green Room with Orla Barry, the LA based actress said if we have to have a man in the Aras, she believed McGuinness was the best candidate for the job.

“ He’s a man I’ve known for many years and I know there is a great deal of controversy about his background but I think he’s got smarts, I think he’s got balls, I think he’s got vision” .

Asked about American reaction to the possible election of McGuinness as President, Flanagan said he had “ a huge following in the United States… and is found to be exciting and different and interesting”

The Emmy award winning actress has had a prolific career on stage and screen for over 5 decades, starring in Some Mother’s Son and Yes Man opposite Jim Carrey and in the TV shows Lost and Brotherhood.
