Warning over high winds for coming days

Dec 13th, 2011, 4:16 pm

The Irish Coast Guard is warning people to be extra cautious during the stormy conditions over the coming days.

A severe weather alert has been issued by Met Eireann.

There are forecasts of winds gusting between 100 and 140 kilometres per hour.

These will be strongest along the North coast.

The Coast Guard is advising people not to go out on exposed coasts, cliffs, piers, harbour walls, beaches, promenades or any other coastal areas during the adverse conditions.

Wintry showers are forecast to continue tonight in the north, north-west and south-west with falls of sleet or snow.
