Documentary Tullow Oil- Carlow to Kampala

Dec 11th, 2011, 7:00 pm

‘Tullow  - Carlow to Kampala’ is Newstalk 106-108 fm documentary on the Tullow oil company in Uganda.

In Uganda, the oil company Tullow has been exploring oil for the last five years – this has led to some rich discoveries by a company that was founded in Ireland in the 1980s. The Ugandan government is now planning for production along with Tullow and other oil companies. But the oil reserves lie inland, close to rural communities and in the country’s game reserves, which are home to some of east Africa’s richest wildlife.

Aidan O’Donnell travels to Uganda to see if it can avoid the problems found in many other African oil-producing nations. This documentary was made with thanks to The Simon Cumbers Fund. The documentary aired on Newstalk on Saturday 19th November and was repeated on Sunday 20th.
