Steven Soderbergh’s latest panic-movie, Contagion, has been praised for its scientific accuracy and paranoia-inducing plot. It tells the story of a deadly pathogen that, after hopping through a few different species, sweeps through the human population via handshakes and credit-card transactions, and imagines the hunt for a solution amidst societal breakdown. We ask the brilliant Maryn McKenna, science journalist and author of SUPERBUG, what she thought of Contagion. An expert on infectious disease and public health, Maryn tells us about the chilling reality of pandemics. Tune in this Saturday at 6pm.
