Paralysed Irishman takes first steps

Feb 3rd, 2012, 10:17 am

An Irish adventurer who was paralysed from the waist down in an accident has reached another milestone in his battle to walk again.

Mark Pollock lost his sight when he was 22-years-old.

He has completed incredible journeys like 6 marathons in the Gobi desert in one week and another marathon at the North Pole.

Working with a team in San Francisco this week he took his first steps with the aid of a robotic ‘exoskeleton’.

It is a slow process but Mark says he is aiming for long-term goals.

He explained the programme he is involved in to Breakfast here on Newstalk.
