Gamer dies unnoticed inside Internet cafe in Taiwan — report.
A gamer died while playing video games at an Internet cafe in Taiwan last week, but his death went unnoticed for several hours, a UK-based news site reported.
UK-based Sky News reported that for nine hours, no one noticed the body of Chen Rong-yu, 23, slumped in a chair at a cafe in New Taipei city last Tuesday night.
Chen had been playing “League of Legends,” an action real-time strategy game, the report said.
Initial police findings showed he might have died of cardiac arrest triggered by low temperatures.
The report quoted police as saying he was found rigid on a chair, with his hands stretched out towards the keyboard and mouse.
“Mr. Chen’s body had apparently been sitting there for up to nine hours without any of the 30 other people in the cafe noticing. He was last seen by a waitress talking on the phone around noon on Wednesday,” the report said.
The report quoted police as saying they suspect that a combination of tiredness, lack of movement and the cold weather could have caused blood clots and a heart attack.
