89 dead after freezing Europe weather

Much of Europe remains in the grip of a big freeze with record-low temperatures claiming the lives of 89 people.

Most of the victims have been in Ukraine where overnight temperatures dropped as low as -33 degrees Celsius.

European weather alert network Meteoalarm  has warned of “extremely dangerous” conditions.

Russian gas provider Gazprom is warning about the potential impact on supplies to Europe.

Parts of the Black Sea froze near the Romanian coastline and rare snow fell on Croatian islands in the Adriatic Sea.

Some towns in Bulgaria recorded their lowest temperatures since records began a century ago.

Back home drivers are being warned that overnight ice and frost means road conditions are dangerous in many parts today.
