The bodies of a man and woman have been discovered at two separate locations in Roscommon.
The discovery was made after midnight in the village of Cloonfad.
Gardai were alerted by a member of the public to two shootings which had taken place between 9.30and midnight last night in the village of Cloonfad.
After midnight, the body of a 44 year old man was found dead in a silver Volkswagan Passat in Cloonfad.
Shortly after 1.30, a 30 year old woman was found dead in another silver Volkswagan Passat at Springvale, Cloonfad – a short distance away.
Both scenes have been preserved and technical examinations are being carried out.
The office of the state pathaologist has been notified.
Gardai are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident but are appealing for anybody with information in relation to the two shootings to contact them.
