Huge blasts have continued through the night in the central Syrian city of Homs.
The city has been the hub of battles between government forces and protesters over the past week.
Activists say they fear one final push is imminent to storm residential areas there.
Meanwhile, back home, Amnesty International is holding two vigils in Dublin and Galway later today, in solidarity with the victims of the conflict in Syria.
The vigils will take place at noon at the GPO on Dublin’s O’Connell Street and on Shop Street in Galway.
A minutes silence will also be held for the 5,000 people killed since protests began in Syria in March of last year.
