The Junior Finance Minister has defended the expense claims of TDs.
Minister Brian Hayes says politics is not a cheap business.
€6 million in expenses has been claimed by all TDs since the 31st Dáil first sat last March.
Fine Gael TD Noel Harrington has been paid the most at €53,000.
Minister Hayes says the total paid out is a reduction on previous years.
And he says the decision by one TD – Eamonn Maloney of Labour – not to claim any expenses is his own business.
He spoke with Breakfast here on Newstalk.
