80 TDs have backed prostitution campaigners in a bid to criminalise prostitution in Ireland.
Turn Off The Red Light is an umbrella group that wants to see Nordic style legislation brought in that would permit sex workers immunity while those who buy sex would be prosecuted.
It is currently illegal to solicit for sex in public or in the street, however it is not a criminal offence to buy or sell sex in Ireland.
This loophole allows for women to be exploited in private residences by their pimps.
