Taoiseach echoes comments over education fees

Feb 3rd, 2012, 4:41 pm

The Taoiseach says 3rd-level education must be “at its best” if the country is going to prosper and that does not “come cheap”.

Education Minister Ruairi Quinn has confirmed that a series of annual hikes to college registration fees will see the sum rise to around €3,000 over the next 4 years.

Enda Kenny has denied that the middle class are being hit hardest by budget cuts and spending increases.

And he says a quality education is vital for economic recovery.

He also says this needs to be properly funded.
