Trial hears of alleged death threats against Limerick family

Feb 22nd, 2012, 4:45 pm

A trial has heard a Limerick woman allegedly received death threats from Wayne and John Dundon after she ended her 8-year relationship with their brother.

33-year-old Wayne Dundon of Lenihan Avenue and 29-year-old John Dundon of Hyde Road in Limerick are being tried at the non-jury Special Criminal Court on a total of 9 charges.

In its opening the prosecution said the court will hear evidence the threats began after April Collins ended her relationship with Gerard Dundon in 2010.

He was on remand in custody at the time and she stopped bringing their 3 children to visit Limerick Prison.

It is alleged on the evening of September 30th of that year Ger’s brother Wayne threatened April’s mother Alice that he would pay some fool 10,000 to kill her son Jimmy.

When she asked ‘Why’ the prosecution claims he replied ‘It’s the quiet fella that gets it’.

He is also accused of making threats to kill against Alice, April and her jailed brother Gareth.

It is alleged on one occasion last year April Collins woke at 1.30am to find John Dundon standing on a shed at the back of her house at Hyde Road.

When she asked ‘Why’ the court heard  she was petrified when he allegedly replied that he was looking for a good place to bury her mother.
