Dementia discussion

44,000 people in Ireland live with some form of dementia. Alzheimer’s disease,the most common cause of it in Ireland, accounts for 66% of all cases.

This morning on Breakfast we looked at how dementia, in particular Alzheimer’s, affects people living with the condition, their families who care for them and how supports for them can be improved.

Joining us to do so were Tom Menton, full-time carer of his wife Rita, from Terenure, Dr Kate Irving, Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing in DCU and Annie Dillon, Practice Development Manager with The Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
