Depression Awareness

Feb 1st, 2012, 3:53 pm

Leeds United issued a statement yesterday in full support for player Andy O’Brien, whose future at the club was in question a few weeks ago when he refused to play a match against Burnely.

It has since transpired O’Brien was suffering with depression and was  getting treatment.

Also, new CSO figures show that women are more likely to be treated in psychiatric hospitals for depression that men.

Why is depression so often missed and what can we do about it? Psychiatrist Dr Brion Sweeney joined Jonathan on the Lunchtime show to discuss.

Listen to the full interview here.

Lunchtime with Damien Kiberd and Jonathan Healy, Monday to Friday 12.00 – 13.30
