Today Sean interviewed Lynnea Shrief, Founder of The International Placenta Encapsulation Network about turning your placenta into a suppliment capsule.
It sparked a very interesting thread throughout the show. Below is the audio from the interview and some of the text reaction.
“Hi Sean, there was an English woman on a BBC documentary and she offered various services for new mothers and their placentas. Including making smoothies and window decorations and placenta prints. The placenta is dipped in paint and pressed onto paper and framed. The window decorations were heart shapes cut from the placenta, dried out and hung from string. Weird.”
“I have eaten three out of five placentas. I enjoyed all of them and they were different each time. I wished they were all much bigger because you really get a boost on the days you eat some. I’ve cut it up, fried lightly with onions and garlic and had it with French bread and another time I turned it into a spaghetti bolagnaise. My husband tried some it. It doesn’t taste like liver – its not as over powering as that. I froze mine in portions – just wish it was bigger so it would last longer. Gill”
“When a cow calves she will eat the placenta, so the idea of eating them is not against nature.”
“Would you eat your arm or leg if you lost it in an accident?”
“What will they say in Holles St when i say i want to eat my placenta after i have my baby in a few weeks? It sounds like a good idea but i am afraid i will be arrested!”
