Two years on from the earthquake that devastated a nation, Irish charities are working to rebuild Haiti. This is a cause close to George’s heart. Having journeyed to Haiti with the Haven charity on several occasions, he has seen firsthand the difference that can be made to the lives of ordinary Haitians, many of whom are still living without a home.
Today aid agencies marked the second anniversary of the earthquake by announcing details of the world’s first ever “Haiti Week” which will be held in Ireland this month, from 21 - 28 January. Haiti’s President Michel Martelly will make his first visit to Ireland as part of the event.
The week is aimed at raising awareness and will give Irish people the opportunity to fundraise for charities working on the ground in Haiti.
