Corbett quits Tipp panel

Feb 6th, 2012, 9:36 pm

2010 hurler of the year Lar Corbett has withdrawn from the Tipperary senior hurling panel. Corbett, who turns 31 next month, informed manager Declan Ryan this evening that he would have to pull out of the squad due to work and business commitments. Declan Ryan and his coaching staff have reluctantly accepted Corbett’s decision, but say that they will keep the door open for his return if his circumstances change. Ryan has recognised that many people are feeling the pinch in the current economic climate and that this would impact on their ability to commit to inter-county hurling. Corbett was named in the Munster interprovincial squad for the recent challenge match in aid of Breast Cancer Ireland, but he did not feature in that game either. His withdrawal means that he’s now the second player from last year’s Premier County panel to announce his retirement, following in the footsteps of fellow 2010 All-Ireland medallist Benny Dunne.
