They could have to face Brazil, Argentina, Germany or Spain in the group stages.

Pot 1 consists of the Top 7 teams in the FIFA rankings and hosts Brazil. The South American teams in Pot 1 are also placed in a sub-category Pot X.

Pot 2 involves African teams, Chile, Ecuador and one of the European teams from Pot 4.

Pot 3 is made up of North and Central American qualifiers and the teams from the Asian confederations.

Pot 4 includes the nine remaining European teams, one of whom will be randomly drawn against one of the South American sides from Pot 1 so that no group will have three European teams.

Pot 1: Brazil (Pot X), Spain, Argentina (Pot X), Colombia (Pot X), Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Uruguay (Pot X)

Pot 2: Ghana, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Nigeria, Chile, Ecuador, EUROPEAN TEAM X
