Kilkenny today announced the recent opening of Kilkenny Swords, two new warehouses in Cork, and the soon to open Kilkenny Newbridge, which collectively create 60 new Irish jobs.

Kilkenny plans to open a further eight stores across Ireland in the next five years with a view to creating further jobs.

The creation of the new Kilkenny stores is welcome news for Irish designers as it brings new opportunities for them to grow and expand, as Kilkenny continue to raise the profile and awareness of Irish Design throughout Ireland.

The Irish family-run business, who celebrate 50 years in operation this year, has already significantly increased its nationwide retail presence in the past 18 months with the opening of stores in Trim, Co. Meath, Stillorgan, Co.Dublin and Douglas, Co.Cork, as well as investing in the expansion and relaunch of their online store and refurbishment of their Nassau St. restaurant.

The two new stores are located at The Pavilions Shopping Centre, Swords, Co. Dublin (2,500 Square Foot) and Whitewater Shopping Centre, Newbridge, Co.Kildare (2,000 Square Foot). The 60 new positions are spread across sales, retail and administration in stores around the country as well as across Kilkenny Group distribution and online operations. With the opening of these two stores Kilkenny will employ 250 people across Ireland.

Marian O’Gorman, CEO of the Kilkenny Group, said, “We are delighted to be celebrating our 50th year in business with the delivery of 60 new jobs and the introduction of our new Swords and Newbridge stores. As an Irish company, we are very proud to be supporting traditional Irish crafts and our customers take pride in buying Irish.”

Kilkenny recently partnered with eBay, one of the world’s largest online marketplaces, allowing Kilkenny to expand into key international markets. The new partnership is an exciting move for Kilkenny who is keen to explore overseas development and build its export growth whilst opening the brand to a wider target audience.
