Name: Serge Aurier
Country: Ivory Coast
Club: Toulouse
Position: Right back
Profile
A product of Lens’ excellent youth academy, Serge Aurier has garnered plenty of notice since he made the move up to Ligue 1 with fellow French side Toulouse in 2012.
In Toulouse’s 3-5-2 formation the 1m74 defender plays as a strong and tenacious wing back shuttling up and down the right flank.
Linked to the likes of Arsenal, the 21-year-old also has the versatility to play at centre-back and has often featured in the back three this season.
A relatively new addition to the Ivory Coast squad, he made his debut last summer.
Key Stats
A little like Seamus Coleman, Aurier has been banging in the goals from right back this season. He already has six to his name this term.
On top of that he has also provided six assists and also wins 67 per cent of his tackle duels.
Discipline is an issue with nine yellow cards which puts joint-third in the Ligue 1 disciplinary table.
This summer
Aurier is a certainty for the Ivory Coast squad and has started the recent 2 – 2 draw against Belgium. Playing behind in-form Roma winger Gervinho, Ivory Coast’s right flank could be their most potent weapon.
