The former US boxer, Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, who was wrongfully convicted of murder, has died.

He passed away at his home in Toronto, Canada, after losing a battle with prostate cancer.

Carter spent 19 years in prison for three murders in New Jersey in 1966.

His story inspired Bob Dylan's song Hurricane.
