Cash-in-transit staff robbed and threatened with a firearm on Cork Street this morning

Gardai are investigating an armed robbery of a cash-in-transit van on Cork Street in Dublin before 8 o'clock this morning.

It's understood a number of men- who were believed to be in possession of a firearm threatened staff and demanded money- before fleeing the scene with a sum of money.

A member of the CIT staff received minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Gardai arrested a man in his 30's a short distance away and he is being detained at Kevin St Garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

A sum of money and a firearm were also recovered.

A van, believed to have been involved in the robbery, was discovered on fire at Dublin's Barn. Dublin Fire Brigade are at scene

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
