Two strangers meet at the altar for the first time and decide to get married. While this sounds like the premise of a bad romance novel it is actually the premise of new US television series Married at First Sight.
A team of experts including a psychologist, a sexologist and a sociologist interviewed a group of people and through a vigorous screening process found what they believe to be their ideal partner.

These two ideal partners, however, will not meet, see or speak to each other until the bride takes those first few steps down the aisle.
The programme then follows the couples through their honeymoon and the first few weeks of their marriage. After a few weeks of marital bliss or hell, the couples must then decide whether they want to remain together or not.
The show also features Jamie Otis, who was a previous contestant on a similar reality dating show, The Bachelor.
